Finally Checked out the new Madewell that opened at Garden State Plaza a week or two ago. Awesome!

I tried on the vintage rocker jeans in chasm wash, $110. They are totally cute and super flattering. I completely recommend trying them if your looking for something that borders on that hippie trend this season but is not too baggy. If you need a new pair of dark denim that you can wear out to a concert or just around town these are the pair of jeans to invest in this season, plus the sales woman told me there are on promotion in the store for $59.50 (a steal).

It's cold outside! Loving all the new circle scarfs added to the accessories section on madewell.com in a plethora of pantone colors. So many I can't decide which one to get for this fall!

We are three days away from the OFFICIAL end of summer and in honor of its passing I have decided to post a few off topic links from the J.Crew/Madewell Blogs. Three topics that include my favorite summer pastimes,

a)summer reading - there is nothing better than lounging in the sun completely emmersed in an amazing book. This reading list is narrowed down to musically influenced literature but the tone deaf will enjoy it all the same.

How I've Missed You

The weather is a little crisp and the mood slightly more mellow which makes me in the mood for more Madewell! For those of you who feel off the face of the earth this Thursday marks the much anticipated launch of Alexa Chung for Madewell! Scheduled to open next week: April 26th Madewell at 115 Fifth Ave and East 19th St. will be bigger & better at 6500 sq. feet. Madewell coming to Fifth Ave.

A few new Madewell Store Openings are in the works: Costa Mesa, CA originally scheduled to open March 29th. The store opening in partnership with Foam Magazine included cocktails and music. Really like the pixie cut the new madewell model sports for the between the lines section of madewell website also featured on this invite. Looks like a great bumble and bumble cut that feels just right for the warm summer months ahead. Also Madewell signed a lease on Fifth Ave, NYC! First Look at Madewell Fall 2011 Collection

Selma Blair spotted in Madewell's Paisley Fields Maxi dress $198. I've been hoping for a light airy maxi dress that I could wear casually on the weekends or dress up for special occassions. Love the daylily color, the fact that it has tiny straps and the way they styled it here with the belt!

Also check out the first look at Madewell's Fall 2011 collection at NY Magazine here! I really adore the shoes... plus I see a lot of items that appear similar to the spring collection and can imagine how they might transition into Fall.

Dying for Dip Dye

Hand dip dyed Le Minor Tees added to the madewell website! These boat neck style striped tees have a summer in the Hampton's feel to them. Inspired by the Brittany port and French sailors each tee is $95 and comes in six colors. My favorite are marine rouge and marine green. Tempted to try dip dying my own older madewell striped tees I went searching for a good tutorial video on you tube. Alas the only thing I found in a similar vein was how to dip dye hair. Check out that video here An equally cute option but I prefer the Madewell Le Minor Tee.

Massachusetts based Penfield, known for its weather resistant outerwear, has been featured on madewell.com for some time. You can currently find the hudson plaid and kasson parka in the sale section but my new obsession is the holbrook parka $140 in olive green. Love how the mymadewell section calls it circa Sloan in Ferris Bueller's Day off (the perfect style icon). The Holbrook Parka is also available in Red and Navy on the Penfield website here

i love love love thursdays because it usually means UPDATES to the Madewell website. today i noticed that the "blogger best" section has been updated with new selections. one of my favorites is the spotted matinee silk blouse which comes in cream and black for $98. Laurel Pinson from ThreadNY says,

In case anyone was wondering about the countdown I have added to the lower right hand side of the blog. I have started a fashion budget for my madewell purchases in 2011. I really wanted to join the Stylephile club this Christmas but thought it was a little pricey. I soon realized that if that was more than I could afford then I should set a budget for my madewell/ fashion purchases in 2011 to $1200. (Just barely under the stylephile ticket price) I have since purchased two madewell button down tops on sale and one at shopbop.com so subtracted them from my running total. Help me decide which madewell items will be the most versitile and complementary to my wardrobe. Items I am currently considering for spring summer: a skinny brown belt and denim shorts.

Valentine's Day

I must admit one of my favorite days of the year is Valentine's Day. Even though it is a commercialized holiday, I love any excuse to buy luxuorious underwear and chocolate. This year I have decided to invest in honey dew intimates. The mesh boy short is featured on the madewell website but is sold out in most colors and sizes.
