Spring Lookbook on Stylecaster

Favorite part of stylecaster's review of Madewell's Spring lookbook:
more denim, breton stripes, cross body bags and skinny belts we're dying for right this second - basically all you'll need to look effortlessly amazing should Spring ever opt to show up.
Style caster also offers easy to flip through spring lookbook images on this link and perfect all american model Dree Hemingway who for those who don't know is the great-grandaughter of Ernest Hemingway.
Additionally today is the last day to get 30% off sale with code: Loveit!
Personally picked up cargo campfire shirt in cornflower that has now sold out but looks a lot like the chambray shirt shown in most of the spring images. Can just imagine myself sporting nautical stripes like shown here and reading "The Sun also Rises". Pick up something you can wear now and into spring, wishful thinking.

Who Wore it Best???
Jessica Biel & Jessica Alba spotted in Madewell's Wide Legger Jean from last year! Style looks a lot like vintage rocker jean in eclipse wash ($110) but if you want to hold out for the wide legger- this jean is expected to be back in stock for spring 2011. See the pictures and vote on who wore it best it at fabsugar. Really digging both looks.

madewell as a lifestyle brand. lifestyle branding is a buzz word right now that few know the exact definition to. i recently came across an explanation in the Journal of Integrated Communications (Jung & Merlin, 2002-2003):
Lifestyle branding can be defined as a product or service that provides consumers with an emotional attachment to an identifiable lifestyle-- the rugged outdoorsman, the posh executive or an urban hipster, for example. The consumer then projects this lifestyle to society by purchasing and using particular brands.
madewell capitalizes on lifestyle branding by including items like the above playlist in a recent newsletter sent home in online purchases. They find talented individuals like Sharon Van Etten that optimize the madewell brand, therefore creating more loyal customers who will continue to buy madewell because it becomes about someone they aspire to be or the type of person they want to project they are.
Currently listening to Sweet & Bitter and old Fleetwood Mac (tracks 1 and 9 in the attached playlist)

Madewell Website Update

(One of my favorite images- DONE & DONE after you've made a madewell purchase online ;)
New spring styles and the Spring 2011 Look Book has been added to Madewell's website this morning. A lot of good items, I especially like the nautical belts and bike style messenger bags. Additionally the "My Madewell" section is now up and running- it features four madewell designers and how they style their madewell jeans through documentary style interviews on their favorite pieces and a cute kitschy layout. If you'd like to see more find the link here
Are you a Stylephile?
In case anyone was wondering about the cute brown box with red ribbon on the Madewell website, I took the liberty of looking into the Madewell Stylephile Club or as they call it the "ultimate gift opportunity". The recipient would get shipments specifically selected as some of their favorites each season. They can expect to receive an assortment of accessories, dresses, shorts, denim, cardigans, jewelry and shoes FOUR TIMES A YEAR. Additionally the membership includes a one-on-one stylist consultation! The total cost is $1300 and items can only be exchanged for size. Would really love to sign up but wish it was just a little more reasonable or if you could return items that you didn't like.

In Good Company
Madewell has had it's fair share of collaborations, just to name a few; Shopbop, Refinery 29 and Brooklyn Flea. It also offers speciality made or quality picked items from other retailers like bensimon sneakers or quality mending co. totes. Do you have a specific Madewell pairing you adore ?
